    The Mae Lewis Medical Center (CMML) is a Private Hospital located in the Province of Chiriquí, Panama. Its facilities are located in front of the Inter-American Highway in the City of David. It began operations in 1993, after many years of encouragement by its founding partners who had to overcome financial barriers for the construction of the building. Its business units include Pharmacy, Laboratory, Emergency, Operating Room, Imaging, among others.

    Early years (1961-1972)

    Glen Lewis traveled to Panama with his young wife Mae his in October 1917 to work as a railroad engineer for the Panama Canal company. At the time of their retirement they decided to settle in Panama being considered the pioneers of the colonization of Barú, Chiriquí region. The American couple dedicated their constant cooperation and assistance toward solving the community's problems.

    Mae Lewis died in November 1962 of aggressive gynecological cancer. During her illness he devoted himself to documenting her illness with great accuracy and detail in her personal diary.

    In late 1961 the Lewis donated land and seed money for the construction of a clinic in order to improve the quality of medical services in David as a legacy for the Chiricano people.

    Search for Financing (1972-1991)

    Distinguished Physicians who made up the Clínica Hospital de David, S.A. they become the new promoters of the Lewis husband's legacy project. In 1987 the first stone of the new building was laid, however the economic situation of the country caused the suspension of construction in 1988 with 33% progress in the work. Construction was restarted in 1991 after obtaining financing from the General Bank.

    Mae Lewis Medical Center Start of Operations (1991-Present)

    The Mae Lewis Medical Center opens its doors in 1993 after 30 years of the push of its visionary managers.

    Currently the CMML is one of the most important private hospitals in Chiriquí, providing medical attention to more than xxxx per month. It provides a wide range of Services in the areas of Laboratory, Pharmacy, Emergency, Operating Room, Imaging, among others.
